What To Expect In Our Fair Lawn Practice

The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy.

Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. We’ve found that one of the best ways to have successful practice member relationships is to explain everything in advance. Our goal is to eliminate every shred of apprehension and make you feel at home.

So, check us out here. Get to know us. Then, contact us to make an appointment so we can get to know you.

Your First Visit

Dr. Cintineo consults with a patient.

The doctor will explain what he found and how he may be able to help you.

Your first visit with us begins with a friendly greeting by our staff when you enter our office. You will then be asked to sign in and to complete a health history form so we can learn more about you and the nature of your visit. If you have insurance and we verified your benefits prior to your visit, we will explain your benefits to you. If we did not pre-verify your benefits, we will collect your insurance information at this time and verify your benefits as quickly as possible – in most cases before you leave the office. Since we accept most insurance, many of our patients have no financial responsibility with the exception of their co-payment on each visit.

You will then meet with the doctor who will sit down with you and do a thorough consultation – discussing your present condition and related factors, past health history, family history and whether you have had any injuries or accidents. Next, a thorough examination will be performed on your area(s) of complaint which includes chiropractic tests as well as orthopedic and neurologic tests. This is done so we can check not only your spinal structure, but how your structural imbalances affect your nervous system and related areas.

Following this examination, the doctor will give you a brief review of his findings and determine what course of action is best for your particular condition. Many patients will undergo x-ray studies of their area(s) of complaint and related areas so we can visualize the spinal structure to arrive at a more clinically accurate diagnosis. Some patients will receive a gentle treatment on their first day as well which may include soothing modalities such as muscle stimulation, heat/ice and/or soft tissue massage, especially if they are experiencing significant pain. This will allow them to leave the office feeling at least a little better than when they came in. You will then be scheduled for a follow-up visit within the next day or two. Before you leave, you will be given specific home instructions to manage your pain until your next visit.

Your first visit will take anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

Your Second Visit

Physical therapy may be used in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments.

On your second visit, you will again meet with the doctor. At this point we should have the results of your x-rays and be able to review them with you. The doctor will then correlate the consultation and examination findings with the x-ray findings to establish an appropriate treatment plan. Once we establish your goals and agree on a treatment plan, we will begin your care – it’s that simple!

This visit takes anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes – depending on any treatment you receive that day.

A Typical Office Visit

Beginning on your third visit, you will be taken in either by the doctor or a physical therapist depending on your treatment plan. You will then begin your therapy to address the muscular and soft tissue component of your condition after which you will receive a spinal adjustment to address the structural component. It’s that simple.
